I started freaking out a little bit last week because the school system did not call me in to work at all. (Today was the 4th time I've been called in to teach this month). Not only that, but no one has been interested in taking lessons from me, so my studio still consists of 6 beginning guitar students.
Thursday I read an ad for a really cool job in the newspaper so I went to the organization's website and contacted the people to tell them I was interested in the job. I had an interview the next day and was hired basically on the spot. Even though this job could have lead to great things ( in my opinion), and it would've meant living in one of my favorite parts of WV, I had to turn the job down. Why? Because they offered me $10,000/year max. When I told my dad he immediately pointed out that that is less than minimum wage. I couldn't afford to take the job. Bummer.
But...ever since last night my current job situation has been changing for the better. I was a strings sub today and I will do the same thing tomorrow. A general music teacher called me tonight and had me mark my calendar for days he wants me to sub for him. A strings teacher called me last night and told me she has been telling some students to contact me about lessons. She also said a local violin teacher is getting ready to have a kid and she needs to give her studio over to someone. I'm that someone :) Finally, I met a principal today that put me as the first priority music sub for his school. That means that if any of his music teachers call off I get the job. Finally! It looks like I'm going to have more work!
PRAISE GOD!
