The Good Times Continue
I was walking towards my front door Sun night and my Shelter friend Katrin was standing in front of my house! We haven't seen each other for 6 months! It was so cool to talk to her in person again. More former staff members are coming to visit soon- Francien and I are going to hang out Sat evening and then Joel and Aaron are coming Sun I think. Joel and Aaron have been traveling around Europe for the past 3 months so I'm sure they've got some cool stories to tell.
I'm going to Breda again to spend a few days with Adeleida and her family. I'm leaving Sun evening and I'll be back Tues evening.
Have I told you guys about Romy before? Everyone should have a friend like her! Ok, the way I came to know Romy is kind of strange and most definitely a God-thing. I was sitting behind the counter in the Shelter's cafe last April or May and this guy came up to me and started asking me a bunch of questions. Basically he wanted to know if non-guests could come to our Bible discussions or come and hang out in our hostel for fellowship with other Christians. He had met a Chinese girl (he was also Chinese) at church that had just been baptized that day. She had a ton of questions about her new faith and she didn't have any Christian friends in the city. I asked for her contact information and sent her an e-mail. She e-mailed me back (I wasn't sure if she would) and we met for coffee at the Shelter. We immediately hit it off. We've been meeting together once a week since we met. I'm "discipling" her but I think I've learned more from her than she's learned from me.
Sometimes I wonder what it is to be a good friend. God sent Romy to me as an example. If ever I am sick, Romy shows up at my place asking if she can cook for me. Once when I was sick she brought me a little plant and balloon. She opens her home to me at any time and makes delicious homemade chinese dinners for us. She really truly cares about my problems and what's going on in my life. If I talk about something on my heart she doesn't go off on a tangent about how she can relate-making it about herself. She just listens. I'm glad that God gave me Romy so that I can see what it is to be a good friend.
I'm going to miss her.
On a different note; you can't tell by the length of this e-mail but my left arm has been going crazy lately. It seems to be getting worse. Prayers would be much appreciated!
Michelle has been feeling better. She's following the "plan to recovery" that her doctor prescribed and it's working. Keep her in your prayers as well.

Hey Melissa,
I just tried to leave a comment on Michelle's blog, but couldn't... but Michelle if you read this.. I want you to know I'll continue to pray for you and am glad that you were able to get in with a good doc. What did they have to say about your headache? What is the treatment plan?
