Summer in the city

The other night I played soccer for the first time in my life. It was so much fun to have an excuse to run around and scream. We were pretty loud. All of the other Europeans were quietly, but aggressively playing their soccer games and we were running around screaming and yelling and laughing. After the game we got to catch a beautiful sunset. It was great.

When I got home from soccer, my friend Daniella and I decided to bike around Amsterdam at night. We biked to all of the big squares and through interesting parts of the city. It was a lot of fun. Amsterdam is really great at night. Terraces, cafes, bars, and restaurants are all overflowing with people. I don't know why none of us go out in the city at night together. (Don't worry dad, I wouldn't go out alone, and it's safe, and I'll stay in well lit areas). You know how dads are.

It's been really hot and sunny for the last week or so. I think air conditioning is an american thing. I haven't been in an air conditioned place over here yet. Europeans don't seem to be obsessed with comfort the way many americans are.

I'm going to be traveling around the Netherlands from Tues- Thurs next week. I'm going to Rotterdam and Breda with my dutch friend Adeleida. We'll stay with her sisters and her parents. They don't speak english so I will finally have a chance to practice my dutch. It should be a really fun and interesting trip.

That's it for now.
