I just got home from work and I'm hanging out a little before I go to bed. It's fun living with so many people because you walk into your house and there are all your friends. It's great.
I found a church that I really like. It is called Crossroads International Church. It takes 45 minutes to bike there- which is great to get your mind awake. I am really confused about my role at this church. They have really great ministries to refugee children, refugee families, and I could teach Sunday school, or mentor high school age kids. The problem is I work for a ministry and my managers don't want me to get involved in other ministries. So, what do I do? Just go to church and not contribute in any way? I need to figure out my new role as a church attender/consumer. Any suggestions?
I biked out to Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest) today with a friend. I really love and miss being in nature. I can't believe I am living in a city. It's so not me. But Amsterdam is a really cool place and I like it here.
I should go to bed. I think it's pretty late.

Melissa, it really is tough to be involved in a local church while working for The Shelter. Alone the shifts you have to work make it difficult.
But here's the other thing: do not be afraid of becoming a "pew potato" in your couple of months in Amsterdam. Since you work for a ministry six days a week, it is also important to recharge spiritually, because one of the ugliest things in the world is a burnt-out Christian working for a ministry. Do not become caught up in the "I have to be doing something for God" mindset, but rather allow God to do something through you -- and rest assured that this will happen most effectively when you're not concentrating on "being useful" to His kingdom.
(Of course, if He is clearly calling you to help out at Crossroads Church, don't let me or anyone else stand in the way.)
Gotta go start my shift.
Thanks for the words of wisdom Marco. Football was awesome tonight!
