God is calling sinners to repentance through our cleaner ministry. Two cleaners, Andru and Joie, just finished their time with us. While they were with us we celebrated their brand new engagement (see pic below), and Andru's 23rd birthday. Before they came to the Shelter they didn't concern themselves with God's existence. They just lived their day to day lives. But now, as they leave, they are going with the sword of truth (bible) in their bags, and a new faith in their hearts.
We just got a new cleaner, Zuzana, who became a Christian after she worked as a cleaner at our sister hostel, Shelter City, for a month. She attended many bible discussions at Shelter City and knew the gospel message, but she didn't REALLY get it until she was taking a shower one night. She told me as she was washing her hair it occured to her, "Jesus died for me." And that was it- once her eyes were opened to the truth she gave her life to Christ. Now we have the pleasure of discipling her for the next month.
Last week a cleaner walked out. He became less and less understandable, and more withdrawn during the days leading up to jis walk out. His mind was so jumbled and confused that it seemed like he was talking in an alien language. Finally, he left in the middle of his shift because his "luggage wasn't safe here." We were all worried about him. I thought he was going to end up like one of the crazy people walking around the city talking to themselves. He called me from Paris three days after he left and he called me again today from Croatia. It turns out that living in a Christain community really confronted him with God and he couldn't handle it. He was so confused and had so much going on in his head that he had to get away. But, he's now chewing through all that he was exposed to during his time with us. He has lots to sort through with God. But, God is patient and God has all the time in the world for this son of his. Zoran, the cleaner I just told you about is the guy in the pic below. He came with us when we went to see the Logos II.
The other night I went to one of the Zolder's small groups. I ate at a table with a girl and a few guys. One of the guys was a cleaner at the Jordan in 2003. He came to the shelter as a muslim and left as a Christian. Two years later, he is active in a Christian community. Praise God!
God is working in this place, and in the cleaners. Some of them give their lives to Jesus while they are with us, while others still have a ways to go on their journies.
Speaking of journeys, I biked to the North Sea yesterday. The dunes create a hilly atmosphere- I kind of felt like I was in WV. It was so nice! Here's a pic from the lake I sat at for a while yesterday.
And here's a pic from the north sea. I didn't stick around for long because bikini tops for women are optional. I am a bit to conservative for that environment. It was pretty shocking actually. It got me thinking a lot.

Many staff members are leaving this week and 4 new ones are coming. Strange times. My small group is having a going away dinner for the members that are moving on. It should be really nice.
Prayer requests:Please keep praying for Michelle. She's had a headache for over 5 weeks and now she's in school taking 5 AP courses. She really needs your prayers.
My "sister" Beth also needs your prayers. Many of you already know about what she's going through, but for those of you that don't- she may have MS and is experiecing many strange and uncomfortable symptoms. Click on "Beth"under my links section to read more about her story so you can pray more knowledgeably(sp?) for her.
That's all. Countdown: 2 weeks till my mom comes to visit!

For a moment I misread one sentence and thought that you had said we had the pleasure of "disciplining" Zuzana for the next month! :) Yeah, too bad we're out of guys here, I'm having to do night shifts only, which I don't normally mind, but I always end up losing touch with everyone a bit if I work while they sleep and vice versa.
Praise God!
Thanks for the prayers! I'm feeling great again- the symptoms left as quickly as they came. I'm still praying for you Melissa. Reading your description of how the hills of the North Sea area reminded you of WV made me suddenly "homesick" for WV! God has provided so much here in NH. In Phillipians I think it was... do not cling to the past, but hope in the future...
Things at the hostile sound so exciting!
Love you Melissa!
