Busy Days
It's been a busy week and today was a busy day. Tomorrow, Sat, and Sun will also be busy. One thing I learned in college is that no one wants to hear about how busy you are because everyone is busy. So I'll stop now.
I've spent a lot of time talking with Africans the past two days. Right now we have a really cool guest from Cameroon and yesterday I met a guy in Vondelpark from Mali. I can't believe some of the stories they've told me. Unfortunately our guest from Cameroon was denied residency so he has to go back to Cameroon empty handed to a hungry family. It's a really tough blow for him. He used to be a Christian and he's been coming to bible discussions so it would be great if you could pray that he would come back to faith. The guy from Mali was pretty interesting as well. He believes that the Bible and the Koran are both God's word. He has some really interesting theological questions that we dug into. He goes to a Christian worship service every Tues night at the Cleft which is really cool. I'm going to try to go to it next Tues. (Anyone want to joing me? It's at 7:30). One thing I've learned about myself from talking to these guys is that unfortunately I'm very naive and ignorant about what is going on in this world.
In an earlier blog I asked you to pray for one of our cleaners that has been heroin free for four months. He came to me today and told me that he has found his way back to God because of his time in the Shelter. Praise God! Now he is going to be a cleaner at our sister hostel for a month where he can still enjoy fellowship and biblical teaching.
Tomorrow night we're having an outreach and Sat is open mic night. Marco, Nynke, and I are singing a beautiful song together. It brings back memories of my bluegrass band days...aaahhh.
I need to go and prepare the cleaners' devotional time for tomorrow.
